I just finished my diploma thesis in design at the University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg.
A 55sec spot for the international year of the gorilla 2009 in cooperation with the WWF International.
Gorillas are an endangered species. Especially the Mountain Gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei)
and the Cross River Gorillas (Gorilla gorilla diehli).
Actually there are only 250- 300 Cross River Gorillas and 650-680 Mountain Gorillas living in Africa.
They are the last one of there species.
The United Nations declare 2009 to the Year of the Gorilla.
To spread out the word of these gentle giants is the overarching goal of this work.
I took a whole month just for researching to get the exact point to express his mind.
After that there where a lot of animation test an sketches to find his final look.
The Spot is mainly done in cinema 4D with a spice of After Effects.
The whole post production takes about 3 month.
With some shake tweaking it get´s the final look in a tough one week compositing marathon.
